Ticaboo Canyon is located on the west shore of Good Hope Bay at about mile 122. Today, it has a wide mouth and water extends only about a mile up the canyon. Ticaboo Creek heads on the eastern slopes of Mount Ellsworth. Cass Hite had a ranch about one mile up the creek from the river. During the early 1900s, Hite referred to his mining operations at the mouth of the canyon as the ΓÇ£Bank of Ticaboo.ΓÇ¥ ΓÇ£TicabooΓÇ¥ is a Ute word for ΓÇ£friendly.ΓÇ¥
